Sunday started out nice enough. A light breeze was blowing
and the clouds were breaking up as we headed out. After
all day fighting the wind and waves the sun felt good on your back
and the deck stayed under your feet. We started out fishing the
first small point south east of White Goose Bay where Kevin picked up
his first walleye. He was glad to get the one after being skunked
the first day. Tina had lost a big one the day before and was
getting anxious as the deadline grew near. It was her first time
fishing in a contest and despite the rough conditions she was
giving it a good effort. Just about the time I was shedding some
layers of cloths I noticed a large storm cloud over the north shore of the lake
slowly making its way south. So much for the warming sunshine.
A few minutes later snow pellets were bouncing off everything. That's right,
snow! The past few years we had to deal with extreme heat and sun, but that's
Michigan. May 19th and we were fishing in a snow shower. Shortly after, at 11:30 that morning,
we headed in for the noon deadline and a warm fire.
