Overall I was very impressed with Bombardier's Outlander 800 H.O. EFI XT.
I liked the body shape which has a little style to it rather than
the usual boxy look. Because of this it has less storage space than
Duane's Polaris 700 but a 7 inch rack riser with front and rear storage bags made up for this.
I liked that they made a conscious effort to keep
a low center of gravity to improve the machine's handling. For instance, the wench is installed
low. This helps to pull the machine upward when stuck and keeps the weight low
with the lighter radiator well protected up top.
This is opposite on the Polaris. The disc brakes are kept on the inward side
of the trans-axles, again helping to keep the weight centered. The combo digital
/ analog instrument cluster was easy to use and read. A 5.2 gal gas tank gives it about a
100 mile range with normal trail riding. The 800 HO EFI twin cylinder power plant
is just awesome. The torque and horsepower are tops on the market and it puts this
machine in a class of its own. If your looking for true 4-wheeler capabilities
with the speed and handling of a quad racer, this is it. I guarantee you will only eat dust if you want to
with this one. I enjoyed riding it so much I bought it. Till next time, have fun, ride safe,
and I'll see ya on the trail, DMG
