Early the next mourning we followed Thousand Island lake Road into Watersmeet for
breakfast before hitting the trail. We met a group from Indiana at the gas station
who were asking about the trails. They were looking for a route to get off the grade into some back tracks.
We weren't sure where we were headed, only that we wanted to work north where some new routes had open up.
We invited them to come along if they liked, and they did. Unloading the equipment by the trail head
we all suited up and headed east on Trail 2 about 200 yards apart, less dust to eat.

What a gorgeous crisp, clear morning it was! We must have looked like a pack of
mechanical dogs in steady pursuit of some lost game. We turned north a few miles
out with a faint red cloud marking our wake. A quick stop to show the guys
Burnt Dam Falls,
then back in the saddle.
Slowly winding our way down the old logging roads a pale plume of color filled the hill side.
We took a break to take it all in. The smells, the sounds, the view, it
was all good. After a short break we followed two tracks and the GPS north.
We need to get up to trail 8, the old rail grade on the north side of M-28.
This is a nice area with some fairly rugged two tracks. We always stay on the two tracks
or road. Tearing up this kind of beauty would just be a sin!
