Snowmobiling From The Cisco Chain of Lakes

It was 18° below Wednesday morning as we slid through the US-2 tunnel
steadily heading west on trail 2 just after sun-up.
Freshly groomed, set up hard and not a track on it! Our first stop was at the
intersection of snowmobile trail 2 and 1
to count sleds and take a quick breather. The trail was tight as it gets and we
were making good time on the old railroad grade. Further on as the trail runs through
Marenisco we stopped in the local gas station for a cup of hot coffee to warm up a bit.
The guys with the smaller windshields were feeling the cold. I must admit the hot coffee
was nice, and I sipped it standing out of the wind until gone. We were now headed
toward Wakefield where food was our main destination at the time.
A few miles after trail 2 meets trail 11 it heads north over US-2
and then west on Morgan Mine Road. Here I ran across a pipe-line break
cut through the trees crossing the trail. I hopped up the north slope
and waited for the rest of the guys. It was a great view and we all had fun
running up the steep hills and deep snow. What ever chance you get, right.
After a short stay we were just a few miles east of Wakefield and our stomachs
were starting to do the guiding. We filled our tanks then stopped in at Gramma's Lakeview Cafe
for a heavy brunch. We were all hungry and the food was fantastic. We stayed for awhile
slurping coffee and talking about the smooth morning ride.
