Snowmobiling From The Cisco Chain of Lakes

After brunch we headed north on trail 11, open last season, into the Porcupine Mountains.
The first part of the trail was on the road shoulder but half way up it left the road
and turned into a beautiful winding trail with lots of ups and downs for a little thrill.
By the time we hit the
South Boundary Trail
the snow grew in depth and it kept coming. The cold air had the Lake Superior Lake Effect Machine
going strong all night and the new snow made three feet of fluff on top of some even deeper pack!
No one could touch the ground no matter how hard they tried to wiggled down. It was a great day
to play in the snow!
After exploring the high country most of the day we made our way
down trail 1
from Silver City to Bergland and hit Lake Gogebic just before sundown. It was getting to
be diner time and the guys raced across the lake looking for a place. Unfortunately
two engines were blown in doing so. They towed the busted sleds to the parking lot
of the Hoop N' Holler while I and a few others headed back to the cabin down
trail 13
to pick up a truck and trailer. As I pulled into
Vacationland Resort
we had just over 200 miles for the day. Fred and I drove back to
pick up the sleds and riders finally eating while the sleds were loading. It had been
a long day and by the time we returned to the cabin I was beat.
I hit the sack early and was out for the night.
