Sunday morning I was up with the sun. This is my time of day when everything is
fresh and calm. I perked some fresh coffee while I listened to the weather report
on the VHF. It called for strong winds out of the south and we were anchored
on the north shore. I did not want to get caught here having to back off shore with
the winds and waves pushing in. I pulled the anchor, backed out and headed south across
the lake. It was a fantastic morning! I sat out on the front deck and watched the lake wake
up slowly heading quietly south across Burt Lake.
About half way the waves started to build to 2 foot as I watched a hot air balloon
float across the lake just off the water. My fishing boat was starting to bounce
splashing water up onto the side windows but the houseboat stayed smooth as Neila slept.
I started up some sausage and another pot of coffee and about the time I pulled
in front of the Sturgeon River Neila had awoke, finished off breakfast, and
headed to the sun deck for some early rays. After putting away the dishes I joined
her on top with a cup of brew and my camera. There were a few boats on the water
now and it looked to be a great spot to watch the action.
