Burt Lake Map

4th Of July House Boating On Burt Lake   By the Castmaster     Pg. 7

It was a perfect spot to be! There were a lot of boats coming out of the Indian River. Canoes, kayaks, and tubers floated out of the Sturgeon River, and the Burt Lake State Park beach, was filling up fast. With all the large boats throwing wake the waves in the area were pretty intense at times. Watching the boats and jet skis hit the up to 6 footer's was very entertaining. The three girls on the jet ski shown left would all scream in harmony with ever bounce. One guy form Ohio was pretty good and he played in front of us for some time while I snapped some great action shots.

The sheriff was out making sure everyone was safe, having fun, and did not let things get to out of hand. I fired up the grill about noon while I listened to the radio on the small boat. The house boat stayed fairly steady in the large wakes but a few waves would roll in the back of Slammer IV right up to the front seats filling her with water. The bilge was on and off all day. As we ate lunch in the shade of the front deck we could hear boaters comment as they came by, "now that's the way to go", we sure thought so. Having everything you need with you makes for a very relaxing time.
