Grand Marais Bay
was calm as I pulled in town. After gassing up I had lunch and a few cups of coffee
by the fire at the Sportsmans Restaurant on Lake Street. The Sportsmans had a nice old-time feel and
the owners were very accommodating. Leaving Grand Marais I took Ellen Street east of town
south past the Airport and southeast onto Snowmobile Trail 443. I spent the rest of the daylight running two tracks, forest roads
and trails while enjoying the abundant color along the way.
One could not ask for better weather the last three days
but according to the weatherman it was all going to change quickly tomorrow.
The moon was just rising in the eastern sky as I pulled into the Super 8 in Wetmore.
I loaded the Outlander onto the trailer and made sure everything was secure
for the trip home the next morning. Relaxing in the whirlpool I thought what
a great area to ride. There are so many routes you can take with a wide variety of
landscapes, historic sites, and wildlife to view along the way. I highly recommend the area
to anyone looking to get out and play. Give yourself a few days and you will
come back just like I know I will.
