When Kevin, a long time friend, and I pulled into The Super 8
Saturday night it was snowing so hard you could
hardly see. We woke Sunday morning to about 10 inches of fresh powder
just itching to be ridden. Taking the connector down to trail 8 we quickly
avoided the traffic and groomers hopping on the first two track south.
We don't like to ride the trails much on weekends and decided to check out
the endless two tracks and forest roads to the south of M-28. I rode over
200 miles of back roads on the ATV
here this past fall and had got to know the area well.
One of the sleds we brought along was a 800 Renegade. I would like
to thank Ty at Burt Lake Marina for providing it.
A comfortable sled on the trail, it really shines in the heavy snow off trail.
Very nimble the 800 H.O. has more than enough to power you out of anything!
It's one of my personal favorites and quickly became one of Kevin's.
Off and on we traded sleds pushing further into the maze of forest roads.
After a quick stop at Boot Lake Bar & Grill to warm and feed, we ripped some tracks working
our way back to Wetmore. Nice ride, nice machine! It had been a good first
day and a nice warm up for the coming week. The hour or so we spent in the sauna and whirlpool
back at the Super 8 was also a big help!
