With Duane in the lead he took us out to the end of Coast Guard Road
following the Two Hearted River. At the end of the road was a narrow
trail over a large hill that over-looked Lake Superior. Awsome view!
We pushed on the rest of the way to the mouth of the river. The snow
was thin out here as the strong winds off the lake blew it further inland.
We took a short break behind some dunes between the river and lake
talking over the day. We had over a hundred sixty miles in for the day,
a lot of which were back two-tracks. We were ready to head in.
As we pulled into Paradise on trail 8 from the north, we passed the groomer
heading out. It was a good sign for tomorrow's ride west. Just about sundown
we arrived at the Best Western.
A heartbeat later Kevin and I were melting down in the sauna. Relaxing in the whirlpool we watched a
heavy lake effect snow band slowly dance across the lake until the sky
started dumping large fluffy flakes outside the frosty windows. The hotel
sits on the shore with room balconies overlooking Whitefish bay. With a
large pool area having the same wonderful view this is a great place to end your day! With a hundred and eighty
plus miles behind us we slept like babies that night. It was a nice stay and I know I'll be back, with the ATV.
