Today we decided to drive through some of the back roads and started north west on the boarder area of Houghton and Baraga counties. I will get back to the lake photos in a couple days when the color is at it's peak. We took Old 41 north just west of Nestoria. In winter it is part of the snowmobile trail we rode this past season. Although a little bumpy at times the views along the way were well worth the ride. Some hunters past us by over the Hickory Creek as they went off carrying their tree stands to a secret view. The old bridges along the trail were a sight themselves.

Once through old 41 we turned south on US-41 then west on M-28 to Sidnaw were the Sturgeon Gorge, Forest Rd 191, heads north through the gorge and past Silver Mountain. It was a beautiful ride on a fairly smooth dirt road with several scenic stops and hiking trails along the way. We stopped at the Silver River Bridge on the north end of our ride for a leg stretch then headed back south to the main road and east on Forest Road 553. We passed the Baraga Plains area where the ATV Trail starts, south on Plains Road past Big Lake. I wanted to check out a water fall just down the road.
