After lunch had passed we just lounged on the deck and watched the
world pass us by as I faded in and out of short naps.
Around 5 that Sunday afternoon I received a call from a friend of ours
we were expecting on board this evening. Neila was busy preparing food
for dinner as I hopped in my boat and headed back to Maple Bay where
we would meet. As I pulled in to shore there was Kevin, his daughter
Megan, and Casey, the family dog. After a few hugs and some sloppy
kisses from Casey we all jumped in the boat and headed back to the houseboat
and some dinner!
Later that evening after a relaxing meal we talked over coffee and
Mackinac Island Fudge ice cream. Yes we were well stocked and I need
my chocolate fix. At dusk we headed back north west to Maple Bay due
to the weather report of strong thunderstorms possible with northwest winds
the next morning. We again watched the fire works that sprang up around the lake
as we made our way across. The remote control spotlight on my boat helped us to
find a place on the sand bar about 10 feet off the western shore. Kevin worked the
bow anchor into some large tree roots with the stern anchor back about 100 feet.
