I reached the Coalwood Grade ORV Trail from Wyman Road and stopped
to check the GPS. I had traveled 136 miles at this point today but
it was only 4:42 pm so I had time yet to ride. I headed east toward
Shingleton and with the sun shining behind me the colors really stood out
of the long shadows. The trail, damp from the earlier rain, left no
dust in the air and the sky was a clear blue again. What a nice smooth
ride it was with a stream of color lining the way. I've been on this trail
during snowmobile season but this view was as nice as it gets.
And being mid-week there was no traffic!
I filled the machine and the spare gas can in Shingleton before
heading back west to Munising. About four miles out you come
to the North Branch Stutts Creek and and trestle bridge.
I stopped for a look around and a few photos. What a peaceful day
and a beautiful view. I sat on the old timbers a while listening
to the creek creep by. It had been a great day on the trails and one
could ride for days and not cover all the area ATV routes.
Tomorrow was my last day so I headed back for dinner
and a reasonable sack time. I was eager for an early start
the next day to ride north into the Pictured
Rocks National Lakeshore area.
