Paddling the
Jordan River

Page - 3

Here's something you gota try! I paddle into and through the culvert under Old State Road. Not a trick you say, try it with one hand on the paddle while you are looking through the view finder of your digital camera taking shots on the way.
I managed to get the camera back in the case and strapped in before I came out into the swirls just after the photo to the right. While caught in the back wash I could see the rest lining up for there turn through. top Right.
After gaining control I waited as the others came through.
The next one through with the biggest grin of all was Neila. She was laughing so hard I thought she would lose her paddle. After a nervous start she was the master of her own craft and having a blast as she grew in confidence. She said the banana boat, as she now affectionately call it, was very easy to handle and felt very stable as she bumped into things early on. She kept on laughing as the current swung her slowly into the small sandy beach on the north east side of the bridge. Sandy ended up right next to here by the shore after her run and they sat an bragged like men.
After a bit of negotiating Mark had talked Lois into staying in the canoe as they came through. After they joined us on the banks we stayed for a snack and a few more runs through the tubes. What a great spot for a hot afternoon cool-down ..and bring the KIDS!
