It was another fine day, sunny and calm, as we headed back out
on Lake Michigamme. The colors had reached their peak over the past
few days and the timing couldn't be better for a few more photos.
Brilliant red maple and oak, bright yellows from the poplar and aspen,
dark green towering pines and the snow white of the birch trees
all helped mother nature to paint the hillsides with an abundance of color.
Moving slowly over the rippled water and through a gentle breeze we followed the
northern shoreline soaking in the views and stowing them away for later visions.
With the temperature around 70 it felt nice in a tee shirt.
The weather had cooperated since day one and with the lack of any wind
the leaves, full of color, were hanging on till the end. The dark blue waters
and sky made a perfect foreground and backdrop to the main show that was going on
in the middle. Steep hills all around this lake made it much easier to
see the full array that the autumn woods had to offer. I pulled a couple
of crawler harnesses around the rest of the day but paid more attention to the hills
than the rods. Slammer watched the rods for me anyway, unfortunately his black and white vision
does not allow him to appreciate this time of year.
